![]() | i managed to tune a 7-string of 25.5" scale to standard E and the guitar ended up with 2 extra springs for a total of 5, and the floating bridge is so stiff that i could only do a slight vibrato with it. the bridge is parallel to the body though. now, i have a 7-string of 27" scale, and i believe it came tuned to A. how do i tune it to standard E without getting a stiff floating bridge? i am unsure about the string gauge that came stock though. likewise, any suggestions for the 25.5" scale guitar will be great as well. ![]() |

Try setting both guitars up with a 10-56 string set & with 3 springs. With 3 springs, tighten the spring claw down a few turns. If that doesn't do it for you, try 4 springs and back the spring claw off a touch. This should get you in the ball park. |

![]() | i tried just using 4, and tightened the claw down to the max, and the bridge was still leaning towards the strings - so i added 1 more spring. i'll try new springs on the 25.5" guitar soon. as for the 27", i'll probably try 9-54 with 3 new springs. i think the springs are just stretched too much while it was hanging in the store. |

![]() ![]() | im assuming u are using an edge 7, and if you are its not supposed to be flat with the body it supposed to lean up a bit. "are there gonna be snacks? i heard there were gonna be snacks." |

![]() | i realised i've been saying standard E, while i should be saying standard B. ![]() yup, it's a 2077. i am aligning it using the base of the trem, so i can tell that it is leaning too much. it's not as easy to see if the knife edge is perpendicular to the post, due to the curved side. another curious thought: wouldn't using less, but shorter, springs give the same amount of tension to balance out with the strings (standard B)? if so, wouldn't the bridge be as stiff? |
