Jan is a jewel in the rough
Ibanez 7 string XL guitars - no more?

I haven't been at Ibanez website for a loong time, but recently I started considering buiyng a new axe. My current instrument (RG 7421XL) has the 27 inch scale and so I'd like my other axe to be the same (but not basswood bodied!). Now at the site I notice that not only did they reduce the number of 7 string guitar drastically (the only 7-string axes I noticed were the APEX models, RG7321 and UV7) but I also haven't found ANY extended scale guitars . My fingers are pretty thick and so it's easier for me to play an XL neck in the higher positions... What the heck is this company doing???? Does any other company make 28 inch 7 string babies?

Schecter makes 26.5" scale mahogany bodied 7 strings that are quite nice. You might want to check them out.

The only Ibanez 27" scale guitar produced right now is only sold in Japan, I think. There's also the RG 8-string which is 27" scale. BTW, Ibanez has a couple of 7-strings other than the ones you mentioned (e.g. S7320, RG1527).

Well, Ibanez has never made a 28" scale guitar, and unless I'm VERY greatly mistaken (or there's a J Custom or LACS-Designed I'm forgetting about) they never offered a 27" in anything other than basswood.

That said, especially for the price a Blackjack is your best bet if you want a mahogany guitar with an extended scale, though if you want a trem and are willing to try ash the new Loomis sig is HOT.

I'll guess I'll be buying one in Japan then.

the only 28" scale model Ibanez ever made is MMM1 but thats 6string

RG CSD2 was only baritone in the LACSD series and it was 27" too, basswood

I haven't seen any J-custom baritone guitars
