A midi seven?

Anybody know of any midi equipped seven string guitars? I've been trying to get my hands on one and I can't seem to locate any.
thanks!

The only ways I've seen it done is using a Roland GK unit on 6 of the 7 strings (either the top 6 or the bottom 6, whichever you use more) or using the Graphtech system, in which case you have to connect two of the strings together in the unit so that they both go on one channel and you can only use one of the two at a time. This is because all guitar synths are designed to read from 6 strings. So most people bind the low-B and the high-E since they don't use them together very often, or some jazz guys will bind the low-B and low-E so they can do walking runs on those two strings while picking chords on the high strings.

There was an indepth thread somewhere on Jemsite a while back..Explaned a lot of things..

There isn't much market in 6 strings and midi-so naturally 7's are totally unsupported..

hey Greg!!! how is it going man? ... Axion make the best product for the 7 string but it is exspensive by all standards. You can use two Roland GK's one with 5 triggers shut off and one on. the other all 6 on. But here is where it gets tricky you need two Axion Midi trackers. it can be a complicated rig. I have never did it before but i have seen two separate people do it,that did not know each other. 7 stringers just finally got the Piezo bridges. I do not think any manufacturer will make a MIDI seven. Cynic/Aghora/Pestilence...a few bands that used MIDI's on seven string very effectively but only Tracked 6 strings.. I am always on the look out for this implimentation of MIDI 7's. right now it is just too complicated and costly.

Hey everybody thanks for all the feedback!

But I guess it doesn't look good for us. Hey Jerick I did manage to check out the Axon system and it was a wee bit out of my price range. I'll check out the Graphtec system and see what the deal is with that. And Sepiroth thanks for the tip on the Jemsite I'll do a search. I recently picked up a Roland GK-3 + synth and put it on an old six string so I guess I'll leave it at that for the moment.

Hey Greg who is Jerick? ...My Carvin Buddy! Axion are very exspensive a little too exspensive i think and too much the hassel too. I have never tried the GraphTech stuff..I have seen multi stringed instruments such as WARR guitars etc..use the stuff very effectively. so why not standard 7's.

O-michron Yes I know Santiago Dobles very well and he plays with no MIDI any longer he said they were not worth the trouble for him. He has a great sound through his Madison Head. But alas I am no fan of any Recto-amp . They do nothing for me . I just got a ENGL Powerball and am truely happy with it..I perfer Metal sound to Nu-metal sound. and of course my Damage Control pre-amps...and you do know it is all "in the ear of the beholder"

powerball=Insane Gain with Control...But alas I seem to need alot effects playing in all the bands I play in so I am never satisfied with one setup as of yet...Between my own power amps I make and the ENGL powerball I am happy with the Power amp section...
