I got one of these micro fine fret polishing cloths as part of some Dunlop Everything You'd Ever Want to Clean on Your Guitar kits for Christmas. It is the absolute coolest thing every, completely eliminating the need for taping and steel wooling.

It is like a cross between sandpaper and cloth (in appearance and consistency). It works just like steel wool, though. I used it on one of my guitars, and it gave the frets the same mirror-like appearance, but without all the debris left behind by steel wool.

I've got the same kit. It's pretty cool stuff, though I didn't think it worked quite as well as steel wool. I think using the Dunlop cloth on a regular basis and steel wool once in a blue moon is probably the way to go.

I should probably also note that I tried it on a pretty grungy guitar I had bought that was in desperate need of cleaning. I think on something that's been maintained the cloth would work fine.

Thanks, Shawn. This will be my first S series Ibanez. There's another one on Ebay right now with the nice see-through blue finish. I now wish I waited....

Yah dude! But the thing is, they get you all addicted to them, and then you cant buy the fuckers separate!! I learned that D'Addario make the same thing now though, check that out. I only wool it when theres some serious upper fret grime going on now.

Meguiar's actually have a set of products aimed at the guitar market too. I've not tried them yet, but coming from Meguiar's they've got to be top notch.
