Where can I buy 11 gauge 7 strings?
Hey guys the 10-59 dadario strings are to light for my playing style. I'm playing in b standard and I want the most balanced set I can by as far a tension and size. I'm guessing I will need a 52 for the e and something heavier for the b. it's 25.5 scale. I have been in contact with Zachary for his strings but he is the craziest ............ I've ever spoken to. Any ideas where I can buy an 11-52 with a matching b string? And what would an even guage setup look like? I'm having a hard time figuring it out.

your best bet would probably be to just purchase a regular 11-52 six string set and then buy a seperate low b. You could figure out approximately what guage you need to make it balanced by using one the many string tension calculators floating around. I would figure it out for you but most of them use excel and the computer I'm posting from has vista installed meaning no excel/ word/ powerpoint.

Another option I have found is just getting earnie ball 8 string wet which is 10-74 and just ditching the 8th string so it would be 10-64 not sure how these would work. I think having a more consistent set would be awesome. I don't mind all the strings being tighter.

I just buy a 5 pack of D'Addario EXL115 11-49 and 5 .064's from D'Addario XL Nickel Wound Singles
You can also get an Elixir 11-49 set and a single .068 |

i use ernie ball beefy slinkys with a .66 on top in A standard, the tension between strings is pretty much the same.
it should work well in B standard, the low b gets nice an tight when its in B, i have taken it up to C and down to E |

Check out Open Office. There's an open source Excel knockoff included in the package called Calc. It functions near identical to Excel with some minor differences here or there.
As for strings, I buy singles from Labella matched for a balanced set across the neck. Most companies sell in singles (EB, D'Addario, etc). |

im going to try out a custom set of daddario strings from just strings.com
10-13-17-26-36-49-66 seems to be perfect for BEADGBE tuning! we will see what happens! i decided not to order through zachary because he is a major tweaker. |

Try the D'addario Light Top/Heavy Bottom 10-52 set with a .70 on the 7th string. That gauge/tension feels amazing for literally any tuning, especially with that scale length. (It's what I use for all my guitars with that scale and its win!)

thank you for the suggestion. the set of 10-13-17-26-36-49-66 is very ballanced and i think a 70 low the low b would be to much! and i think a 52 for the e would be to much. so i think i picked a winning set!

I just buy a 6 string set of Dr .011-.052 and add a .062 on top of it. I wish DR made sets like this.... It would save me the trouble of having to use an inferior string as a B, since nowhere around me stocks single DR strings.

i think the 66 gauge will be awesome...the 59 is super loose and sounds like shit for me. so the most ballanced set i could figure out before bumping up to 11 is 10-13-17-26-36-49-66
i was ready that jeff loomis uses a 70 for B flat so i think the 66 will be snug and perfect for me. i may also try the dunlop heavy core. the guys at axe pallace said they are awesome while i was ordering my new pickups |
