New Neck Day: We can rebuild it, we can make it stronger

I'll try to make this a tl;dr version of the story. Some of you may remember my Strictly 7 NGD from last year. I loved the guitar, it played and sounded amazing. Then Houston's summer came around, the neck started moving like crazy, and my dumb ass snapped the truss-rod trying to compensate. Jim was awesome enough to do a free warranty replacement, even though I broke the thing myself. After a few months waiting and several spec changes later, I've got my guitar back along with the new neck.

Old neck:
1-piece flame maple w/ Pau Ferro fretboard
medium stainless jumbo's

New neck:
5-piece maple/wenge w/ birdseye maple fretboard
stainless jumbo's

Hopefully the five piece will make the neck much stronger.

Hooray pictures!

While I wouldn't consider it "your fault" because the neck warped, I can see how some companies wouldnt allow it. Very cool of them to redo it! :p

Looks great though! :p

Nah, I love maple headstocks with maple boards, but with black hardware. I didn't really think about the hardware when I asked Jim to make it natural on the new one. It doesn't look bad, but the chrome on maple looks sort of "Fendery."

How's that hip shot trem? I've been eyeing one for a future build.. How's it compare to a Parker/music man trem if you've tried either?

Damn, I prefer the new look to the old neck. I'd also be interested to know how well the hipshot trem works.

The Hipshot trem works really well. Among non-locking trems, it's definitely up there with EBMM JP in terms of stability (I previously owned a JP7). Despite the block being relatively thin, it's heavy and resonates well.

I probably wouldn't use it on another build. But, if you really want a non-locking trem, the Hipshot is a solid option.
