That's a load of shit, you should never go back there or quickly address a manager about that ungrateful prick's attitude. Tell him to go get that ladder because you want it, don't even give him the satisfaction that you're even thinking of buying it. I hate workers like these, they don't deserve their jobs if they're going to be treating people this way.

I feel this way because I had a similar experience, I asked to play my old American Deluxe Telecaster, and after about 15$ the guy who predominantly takes care of the more traditional instruments told me to "Get the .... out" because he thought I was just a brat messing around who didn't have the cash to buy it, even though I had been saving for quite some time to be able to afford the Telecaster. I just told him it was his loss and that he's a fool, walked up to the other counter and found ANYONE else to talk to and bought it off of an awesome dude who was the complete opposite of the guy who talked to me that way, of course knowing well that this Sam Ash does reward the salesman with commission. I then called the manager and told him that he should either fire him for having such an attitude and offensive language, but also reminding him of how many potential sales he probably lost because of that old prick. Then I played my new Tele there for another hour on a couple of amps I felt like trying before heading home.

Sorry if I went a little overboard, I just don't like it when customers aren't treated equally or with respect. People like that should be unemployed and the people who truly can offer something should take their place. A smile and being helpful goes a long way, and you do get compensated for that.

Also on the topic of the JP, it's just that particular one's set up. Trust me those guitars are some of the nicest I've ever seen, heard, and felt only rivaled by a select few others.

I don't take any shit in guitar center.

Every time I walk through the door I am already pissed off that I had to go there in the first place.

God isn't that the truth. Even when I wen to buy a set of cobalt's the guy said "I heard these are pretty good" I responded with "I am the one who told your manager and you about them in the first place".

An EB/MM guitar with such a poor setup is like putting square tires on a Porche.

I've found that when I come across a high end guitar within easy reach, it may not be worth reaching for at all.

The action wasn't great, and I didn't plug it in, as the overall condition of the rest of the guitar turned me off. It looked as if it had been played by a hundred sweaty teens who had just finished wiping their runny noses before picking it up. It was greasy feeling, the fingerboard was dry as a bone, and the strings were as well. It was hard to play that thing at all. stores should make it a priority to at least keep their nice guitars in excellent condition at all times. If one store potentially lost the sale of a EBMM Petrucci to the fact that the guitar was in need of a simple setup, then how much money is lost every year to the same experience across all music stores?

Never thought of this until that experience, but with all the disinfectant wipes used in households and even at the supermarket when you get a cart to shop, how much crap from other guys (and girls) do we come into contact with when we try out a few guitars? kinda creeps me out. They should wipe those puppies down after every use just to keep me from handling a guitar that was just played by some dude who just left the bathroom, or picked his nose without washing his hands.

Hence, why I usually buy new online.
Thats a great idea with disinfectant wipes/gel to make you use them when anyone goes anywhere near an instrument, it would keep strings alive longer so you could argue the money would be worth it. I will say that I am very OCD with keeping my hands clean
