Question Strings

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I'm fairly new here.

I was playing Bad Horsie, and you know that whammy part where it sounds like a horse? Well, I broke my big string (060) doing that . So I've re-tuned my guitar since the tension changed and I'm now rocking on a 6-string, lol...

I went to music123.com to order strings. I want Dean Markley because that's what I have on my guitar now, and like them. The string gauges I use are:
010, 013, 017, 030, 042, 052, 060 (LTHB)

I have the NickelSteel on it now. So I ordered one pack of those. I also caught my eye on the BlueSteel ones, and figured... why not try them out? So I ordered a pack of each.

Music123.com just emailed me back stating the NickelSteel pack will not be delivered because "Your order with Music123 contained one or more items which have been discontinued by the manufacturer.". Though they haven't said such about the BlueSteel... yet.

So I looked at another online music store... they didn't list any 7-string packs. Not a clue where to look to get them, and I figure this is the best place to find out. Where could I find/get some of these packs?

I also tried SamAsh and GuitarCenter before trying online. SamAsh carries nothing 7-string. GuitarCenter didn't carry anything 7-string by Dean Markley.

I appreciate your help!

www.juststrings.com.

They don't have a HUGE assortment of seven string packs, because, well, there aen't many, but they DO sell strings by individual guage, and there's a lot of options out there for a 6+1 string set.

Part of my current order's backordered, but so far that's the only problem I've had... including the time I accidentally gave them my city for both the street name AND city and the package got sent back - they rush delivered them to me and didn't charge me an extra penny.

Well... been searching the web for about 4 hours now looking for these damned strings.

And wam! I find them. On all places... Amazon? I didn't know Amazon carried such items.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...ments&v=glance

Absolutely amusing. I play an Ibanez K-7. The string pack is labeled "Korn Signature 7-String Set". I had no idea they had their own pack, lol...

Not true. Both stores carry 7 string string sets. The problem is 1. The websites don't always list them and 2. Sales reps are f*cking lazy pricks!!! Everytime I call a music store and just merely mention the term "7 string" I instantly get, "Nah maaan, we don't carry anything seven string. Sooorry man". Anyone else here get this a lot?

As far as strings... Dean Markley Blue Steels are the best strings I've ever used. I've been using them exclusively for years. The latest set I got though I bought because no local shops had the string guages I wanted so I went with D'Addario's which I don't really like. Don't get me wrong, I love D'Addario strings for my bass as their metallic clanky sound is nice and clicky for slap bass. I've just always disliked the metal clang they have for electric guitar use.

I work at GC (for the next 3 days, anyway) and we've got one used Schecter, and 4 different sets of 7 string strings. Basically only two different gauges though.

But we can order anything from anyone that we care, i.e. the 11-60 set GHS makes, anything Dean Markley, etc.

So if they completely dismiss you, it's because yes, they are lazy pricks.I for one get all excited about talking about all things seven string, so those particular customers are always referred to me

Actually, the service at the GC here in Manhattan has been very good though it's now started to slip rapidly. But yeah, about 2 months ago I called GC to ask if they happen to have a Schecter C7. The guy does a quick check on the computer and says, "Oh that's a seven string... we don't carry any seven strings though we can order them", yet I bought my Ibanez AX7221 from that very same store only like 2 months before and they still do carry it.

Yeah that happens a lot...I guess it's more trendy and easier to sell a down tuned LP knock-off...

Of course it's easier - you can sell it to people with bad taste in guitars AND bad taste in music.

Well, I've been to the SamAsh here several times. They actually didn't have any 7-string sets. I even got to look. I've also talked to the people there, and they say they have no plans to carry any 7-string guitars either, though they'll be able to order anything if someone wants it.

Guitar Center did have 7-string packs, but not the ones I was looking for. They either weren't Dean Markley or weren't the right gauges.

To the person who has used BlueSteel....
How did they feel? How are they different from other strings? They seemed interesting by the description so I ordered a pack. Little excited to see the difference.
