7-string mockingbird?

I just found a 7-string Mockingbird in a local pawn shop tagged at $599 US, and talked them down to $325. I haven't been able to find any info about the guitar on the internet, and even e-mailing BC Rich hasn't resulted in any info. I'm hoping to find out when/where it was made, what kind of pickups are in it, any specifics I can find. I'm sure it's nothing too special, but I'd never seen a Mock 7 and just had to have it. It looks great, and feels decent enough. If nothing else, it feels like a solid guitar I'm going to turn into a radical workhorse. Any info you may know is appreciated!

I could be completely wrong but I thought B.C Rich just started making 7 string birds this year.
I could be wrong so dont take my opinion to heart just seems like it could be a really good fake or the real thing i dunno.
Either way good luck!

There were some pictures of a white 7 string mock posted on BC Rich's Facebook page - however I don't remember seeing anything in the NAMM pictures and nothing in the new catalog.

They are taking suggestions for a ltd model based on Facebook subscribers input right now. A bunch of us put sevenstring models up and they did mention that there would be more new sevenstring models later this year.

I had a 7-string Mockingbird a few years ago, and it was years old at that point, so they didn't just start making them. Mine was USA, and had the pointy headstock, though, was totally black, had ebony board & diamond inlays, etc, etc, so totally different. This looks like a 7-string version of the nicer overseas 6-string MB they have... the R logo is throwing me off, though, because I thought they only had that on USA CS guitars.

Interesting guitar, to say the least. Where's the serial number? At the end of the fret board? What are the first two numbers?

I'm gonna have to agree on it possibly being a custom. The "R" supports that claim, IMO.

there's no serial number printed. there's sticker residue on the back of the headstock that seems like it couldve been a serial, but idk. i'm lost at this point. if it's a fake, it feels like some real work went into it. the guitar is heavy in all the right ways, and feels generally solid

I'm not much of a Mock guy - more of a Warlock fan but that is a very nice looking guitar. If BC made something like that today I'd buy it in a second. Love to have that set of features on a Warlock just not going to pay $5000 to get it.

Highly doubt it's a custom. I've seen many BC Rich production Mockingbirds with the single R logo. Even MusicFarm has one with a quick search:

The Music Farm - BC Rich Neil Boshart Signature Mockingbird Koa Guitar

Congrats on the find man!! $325 is a major steal. Do you have a pic of the back of the headstock? Something about it looks a little suspicious, I see the upper fret access is a bit limited judging by where the frets meet the cut away.

I'm not saying BC never made imports with the "R" on the headstock. But the guitar you are describing is a new model and BC Rich has been doing it on Sig Models starting in 2011. See Smyth's Sig - Joey's Sig etc.

Right, but there is no serial number engraved under the last fret. Judging from the latest pics it appears almost certain IMO that it is a chinese fake. I have never seen BC Rich not have a serial listed somewhere nor ever use that type of heel. However, I am no expert, just a long time BC Rich user.
