Ever find yourself trying to bond to a guitar but its just not happening

Ok I got my ARZ307 which some days I love and some days I hate.

I am really trying to love it, but I just cant seem to get that connection with it like I can with my modded Jay Turser(Shush it that guitar is great)

So I am constantly on the fence trade it, keep it, trade it, keep it.

Anyone else going through this at the moment. It sucks

littledoc"Oh and if I WERE looking for trades, it most definitely wouldn't be an acoustic. I'm trying to sell my guitar, not my nuts!"

Definitely, I had that with my RGD2127z. It just felt like the guitar didn't have character in it, and ultimately I just couldn't flow with it. On top of that, there was some sort of electrical fault, so it had to go. Got an Ibanez RG827z and a 7620, and they definitely bond with me much better.

I've found that experimenting with tunings on the instrument you are not meshing with helps. Sometimes an instrument will sound like crap in B standard, but rock in drop C or A standard tuning. Of course, if the tone of the instrument is great, but playability sucks, then not much can be done about that.

I meant things like the thickness of the neck, the weight of the instrument, etc. Those things are not easliy fixed by a setup.

I had this feeling with my Ibanez S7320, even with EMG's installed..
I was thinking of selling it for a year, but couldnt do it! Last week I just descided to get another 7 and sold the Ibanez. Guess what.. I dont regret selling it at all.. The only thing I miss about it, is the sweet Ibanez hard case.

Absolutely. I've had my RG570 for a year or so, and though I like the neck, the tilt neck joint always bothers me (I've grown quite accustomed to the AANJ) and I don't know if I'll ever be able to really love this guitar like my others. I haven't sold it yet though, because I wanna be sure I won't regret replacing it...too many people on this forum seem to regret selling their axes, so I'm being cautious

i've had that with a few guitars.

even had one where we were passionately in love with each other at first, but then slowly grew apart. eventually the relationship became cold and distant and we would rarely spend time together.
at that point she was still clinging to the past, but i had already made my mind up. so i sold her to another man.

I had a Rico that was like that for me. It was a beautiful guitar but I just couldnt bond with it. Eventually I sold it and never looked back. Sometimes its best to not try to force these things...

When I have that hard of a time with the guitar, I think of what I could use it for otherwise. My example is that I put Mega-Heavys on the Bc Rich Mockingbird ST, which has a 24.4 inch scale and played it in drop A. When I first got the guitar, I fell in love, but after ....ing it up like that, I realized that I would've been WAY less harmful had I just kept it in standard or flat standard and gotten another guitar for drop tunings. So now, I've wrecked the shit out of it, made in unsellable, and yeah... If you can somehow salvage your guitar in a different fashion, then I would try that, but if you want to do something to it that would make it a better idea to just sell it to get a new one, go there instead.

That's all I got.

I suppose I had a hard time "bonding" with my ESP M1. For me it was a matter of alder. The stuff just doesn't seem to resonate at all. I have gotten somewhat used to it (mostly because it is my best playing guitar). Finding the right pickup for it really did help its cause also. I suppose it is my "main" guitar now.

Sounds like me and my Loomis. She's a beauty but since I got that old Ibanez 1527 off of ebay I know what love is.

It's like... the Loomis is Diana but the 1527 is my Camilla...

I've been feeling that way with my c7 hellraiser. I've always hated TOM's and thick c shaped necks but i decided to buy it anyways due to seven string gas and loving that it had an extended scale. Once i get my tax refund in the mail (in about a month) I'm selling it and getting an rgd2127z with the cl/lf combo.

The bond I have with me PRS really fluctuates at times, some days the tuning can be rock solid and It can sound great but others It can really get on your nerves.

I hope I dont feel this way about my ViK.

And we paid the price, we paid for their crimes with our blood.

Felt that way about my (ex) Schecter Demon 7. The quality surpasses what I had expected from it given it is budget after all. Neck was a little thick but still tolerable and the Licensed Floyd was amazing. I couldn't bond with it partly due to the floating bridge though (hate them) and mostly due to various individually-probably-trivial-but-together-very-significant reasons. I sold it and now I barely got a guitar to play =[

I do realise though, for me personally I'd play a guitar a lot more if didn't give two Fuchs about the condition I keep it in. But in my case I'm staying in a foreign land and I might have to go home abruptly, so there's always the nagging in my head that goes, "think of its resale value!"

Back when I was 15 I got a ltd ax-50, that thing played like butter. I loved the feeling of the neck, I could get some amazing shreddy leads out of it, could play awesome on it. But after about a week of the metal shape, I was like, eh. I hardly even play metal, it had to go.. End up selling it for half the price I played with a free case and it was only used for a week
