Tired of not finding a 7-string that suits me...
Hi eveybody,
First it's not a VS thread. Right now I am looking for a new 7-string, but I don't know where to go... I'am a Jackson fan, and the Jackson neck match me perfectly, but the only way to have a Jackson 7 string US it's CS or the Soloist Broderick (but don't know if the neck is like the Standard or Speedneck) I'm not a huge fan of mahogany, and active pickups. Maybe the SLAT 3-7 (but active) So I search a 7 string with, not mahogany body, a neck close to Jackson neck, passive pickup, with Floyd or ToM, but preference for Hipshot style bridge. Between 800-2000€, more if I find something really cool. What do you have in mind ? Des parasols tueurs... Mais bien sur c'est charmant !!! |

For that, my friend, if you're not to stuck on cosmetics.. I'd go for a custom build.
I have the very same problem with Ibanez RG models.. I love the general feel and how the shape works on my chest when playing, but I really hate the positioning of the knobs and switches.. so I'm going for a custom. Usually with customs, a lot of money is thrown on cosmetics.. logos and all that. Why not, if you have the cash.. But a clean looking axe with your own specs is possible for 2000€ Google luthiers, and send a few mails.. What do you have to lose? |

There's several guitars that fit some of these. Several brand's make guitars with fixed bridges and passives. I quickly found rg7321 with basswood/passives/hardtail on the ibanez site. Schecter loomis nt is alder but has actives. It seems like its tough to find what one would consider "higher end"(the price range you gave) guitar without mahogany.

You can try and find a Jackson DR7T, DR7, or DX7. All alder bodies, bolt on neck, 24 frets, the DR7T has a LFR, and all but the DX7 are made in Japan.

The neck may be a tad bit skinnier than the Jackson, but you could try the B.C. Rich Jr. V 7 string. Theres a hardtail TOM style and a Floyd style. or the Kerry King B.C.s, or even the Steve Smyth 7 string Bich. Plenty of options, and if you like Jacksons youll love B.C.s if you can get past the odd body styles.

The only Ibanez that feels kind of like a Soloist is the ARZ307.

Went to several guitar stars found a grand total of maybe 5 to play on. Only one that felt of any good quality was the Schecter Loomis. I suppose where I live 7's aren't very popular.
I played that guitar and it felt like I had been playing 7's my entire life and score one around a grand new maybe cheaper. "Look, guys... Religion is like a penis. It's ok to have one. It's ok even to be proud of it. But please don't pull it out in public and start waving it around. And definitely don't force it down the throats of my children."-genome "To most Christians the bible is like a software license No one actually reads it They just scroll to the bottom and click "I agree"."-Shadygrove |

It's always better when your guitar kinda just bumps into your lap..
But actually looking for one.. aii.. can be a pain in the butt. Good hunting anyhows mate.. I'd go for a custom, if you can't find your guitar anywhere. |

What about a basswood EBMM JP7 or a Carvin? The latter offers you the possibility of choosing the woods and bridge type.

Hi everybody,
First sorry for my late reply and thanks for all the reply. Second: Yes I've already play some Ibanez, cool guitar but not my cup of tea, the neck is too thin for me, and after 30 minutes with playing, I have a little pain in the wrist, and not a fan of the headstock style. Bc rich I've play some cheaper guitar, but once again the neck shape is not for me. Schecter/ESP, same like Bc rich, I've heard the Loomis is thinner than the other Schecter but never play with. Luthiers ok, but the only problems is the resale, if I've some money problems, but I look very closely the Vik and Daemones work ![]() I'll try to have a spot on the Jackson SL2H7 run made by Djpharoah, I think it's the better choice for me. But if you have other suggestion I take ![]() Ps: Someone can describe me the Bernie Rico neck ? Des parasols tueurs... Mais bien sur c'est charmant !!! |

It seemed a tab bit smaller than the RGA7 but it may just be the fact that ive mostly only played on either an rga7, jrv7, and a gibson v 7

Another viable option for you would be to get the Slat3-7 and buy a set of passive pickups and active-style pickup covers. Then you'd be getting what you want pickup-wise and not dropping an extra grand on a guitar.

![]() You might also take a look the boutique brand Agile. I've spent a bit of time with both a 7 & 8 string and the necks were real nice. Many people here have them and the feedback is real positive plus the owner is a member here I believe. Also, I'd seriously consider this brand out of Canada called Guerilla that makes the sickest guitars on the face of the earth IMHO. All custom made neck-thrus with tons of options and paintwork. @zeaoth I just shoved the damn p/u into the cavity. I forced that shit. It works. @DTo8 Does every 8strings buzzes on the low strings? @MatthewLeisher I'd take a dump on a 6505 if the Axe FX asked me to. |

With Carvins price increase for everyone outside NA you might as well get a full custom.
Schecters don't have baseball bat necks. Get the .... over it. "I think this mistake was the equivalent of a 6000 foot tall cock bukkake tsunami-ing Tokyo." -metallisuk Shono, forever and always. |

That bloody axe is sicker than two rats in a shithouse. I can't believe you're trying to sell it. I'd never get rid of that guitar. Good luck on your search though.
