The £25,000 Strat 7

Whilst I was up that way for the Disturbed/Nevermore gig yesterday (which was awesome, especially Nevermore) I took a wonder up Denmark Street to find the mythical £25 grand 7 string Strat prototype. I didn't have to look hard, it's in the window of one of the shops. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me (which is a great excuse to go back, as is trying out the meatllica purple BC Rich Ignitor pentar) so there's no pics, but this is what I can tell you about it.

It appears to be butterscotch blonde on an ash body judging from the grain pattern, true Strat S-S-S pickup config mounted in a white pickguard, vintage strat trem, gold hardware, maple neck and fretboard. Basically, exactly how you'd want a 7 string Start to look. Here's the really interesting part, it comes with another neckblank and the original Fender custom shop blueprints for it!

I think £25 grand is still seriously OTT for it, but if I won the lottery I might try offering them £20,000 for cash

That's fucking insane! 25,000 pounds?

I can't even get my head around that. For a 7-string Strat. A custom builder could build you one for so much cheaper.

ha ha nice. I've seen it there but didn't realise you got the blueprints etc with it.

I wonder if they'd let me try it out

£25k on Denmark street = £18k anywhere else and shop assistants that will actually speak to you like you're a human being

Good point, I did seem to be very inconvienient in asking them to do something. Ok I was only window shopping but they gave me the impression they'd rather not deal with the public at all. The guy in Rockers on the other hand was very helpful. Had a good chat with him about old UV's as they've got a UV7GR. It's up for over £1900 too, makes me much happier at only paying £925 for my UV7PWH.

Andy's is the best shop there i think. They're nice blokes. Every one else speaks to you like you've disturbed them having an important conversation that only men of power and money can be involved in.

I went into soho soundhouse (turnkey just down the road from denmark street) last saturday and asked if i could try out some of the rack stuff (i had asked a couple of weeks ago too) and STILL their poweramp was broken. So none of the Preamps could be tried out. How hard can it be to just replace the valves and sell it a little bit cheaper with a shop warranty? rather than poncing about because of the manufacturer's warranty.

Whilst in there i asked if they have any JCM800's in stock. The bloke stared at me for a bit and asked, 'JCM800?....' he literally didn't have a clue what i was talking about. I would of thought some one like him working in a guitar shop would know instantly what i was talking about, but he literally seemed confused, he had to go on the internet to see what i was talking about. My god they were totally useless in the end i just said 'forget it i'll go somewhere else'

Man that thing's been hanging up for ages... over a year I think, and they price hasn't moved at all.

When going to Soho Soundhouse you need to talk to Fletch, assuming he still works there as I haven't been in for a while. Long dreads and a few face piercings. He's the best guy in there.

I'm not surprised at that price. It's in ok condition, but obviously been played a lot. The fretboard is filthy.

Dude, please take pictures.

If you somehow stumble into Keira Knightly on the street and can get pictures of her posing with it, I'll, um, I don't know what I'll do, actually, but it'd be pretty damned cool.
