RG Lovin' from an ESP player

I picked up a '98 RG7620BK in great condition about two weeks ago. Previously, my main seven was an LTD H-207. I wasn't too crazy about the old RG450DX I had when I was younger, so I was hesitant in picking up another Ibanez. However, the 7620 is a great guitar.

The LoPro Edge 7 is very stable and feels great. The intonation is spot on, and the feel is very similar to a hard tail, which I typically prefer. Also, the Wizard 7 neck is quite comfortable and fast despite the fact that I choke a Wizard on a 6 string. It's just an all around great guitar, or maybe I got a particullarly good specimen. My only drawback is that I don't like the Basswood. It's just a little too bright for my tastes, so I'm searching for a darker and hotter pickup than the New 7...probably something from SD. I like a throaty midrange with more low-end roar.

Duncan JB-7 in my experience is kinda dark...or maybe one of the DiMarzio's, Ibanez use them a lot in basswood

nice score anyway

The Bridge New7 IS pretty bright...

Dark and hot, eh? While I'm not a massive fan of this pickup, maybe a Tone Zone 7 would be a good match. It's nice and organic in basswood, and certainly has a lot of low-mids...

I've been leaning towards the JB-7. Does anyone have experience with it in the bridge of a 7620? I couldn't find any info on this combo in the pickup selection guide.

EDIT: Check that...I wasn't using SH-4 to search. There are actually two reviews. Thanks guys!

BTW, I am very pleased with the New7 neck pickup. It is smoooooooth.

They're really not half-bad pickups. Though, if you like them in basswood, you NEED to hear them in mahogany.

You think the RG7620 is nice, you should check out an S7420.

Man I wish they still made them...

The S7420's nice, but the Lo-TRS 7 trem is still no match for the Lo-Pro 7 on the 7620.

Now, an S5407, on the other hand...
