Has anyone tried a blaze custom pickup? I'm going to try one in my 7620 and was wondering how it compares to the Blaze, TZ7, Evo, etc. Also, do dimarzio 7 string pickups come with the foam spacer sticky things that go on the bottom of the pickup?Any help much appreciated. |

Adam,,, I currently have a Blaze custom in the brigde on one of my 1527's. I love it. It seems to have a little more mid and bass. I acutally like it better than the Blaze. My other guitar has a Tz7 in the bridge which is darker, warmer to me with great Harmonic overtones. The Bc7 has great seperation and is awesome for heavy distortion, very controllable. I'd say if your familiar with the BlazeII then you would be happy with the Blaze custom, it just seems to have a little more balls to me.

If you're putting it in an Ibanez with direct mounted pickups, like a 7421 or 7621, you may not need the foam. The Dimarzio's are quite a bit thicker than the stock pickups. But if you need more height (as I did) you can just get some double sided foam tape and put it on the bottom of the pickup in layers until you get the height you want. It's not too thick so you can't really overshoot. That's what I did, and it worked great.
