Need advice!!
Hello. I'm new to this forum. I've been a fan of sevenstring.org for quite a while now but just never had the guts to post anything. Anyways, I'm in need of some advice.
I really want the Ibanez 1527. I recently played on an RGA 121 and really enjoyed the feel of the Ibanez prestige neck. I'm assuming that since the 1527 is also a prestige instrument, it will feel just as good. My problem is I own a C-7 Hellraiser right now and I really like it's thick sound. I don't know.....I'm already going to be selling the Hellraiser on Ebay because I've got my hopes set on getting the 1527. Am I making a good call? I know that they are two totally different guitars so comparing the two won't get me far. I don't know..... I need help! Anyways, I'm glad I finally posted something. ![]() |

First of all, welcome to the forum...
Second, the fact that you are comparing 2 completely different instruments will really make this a judgement call for you. I have an M307 with 707s in it, and it doesn't even get played anymore because I like the passive Dimarzios in my Ibbys better. The Hellraiser with 707s and mahogany will likely give you a thicker sound than the 1527...this will be personal preference. The neck on the 1527 will be thinner than the Hellraiser, but I won't say it is a faster neck because A: I've never actually played one, and B: Jeff Loomis plays pretty fuckin' fast. Again, this will be personal preference. The bridge will also come down to personal preference. However, the Lo-Pro on the 1527 works quite well, and if you add a Tremol-no, it's damn near as good as any fixed bridge, so you get the best of both worlds. Aesthetics = personal preference. Set neck vs. bolt on...there is likely some argument on this topic, but having owned several neck-thrus, set-necks, and bolt-ons, I can say in my experience the difference has been negligible. I don't think you are making a bad call, it all depends what you want to get out of the instrument. Both of these guitars are quite capable, with the 1527 IMO being slightly more versatile due to the trem and the passive pups (which most people agree are better for clean sounds, but your results may vary). Hope this helps. ![]() |

Keep the hellraiser
Save money and buy the ibanez later this year. That way you have 2 good guitars. |

I doubt it would work, but in a perfect world you can modify the hellraiser (unless if its a neckthru) and put a prestige neck on it.. Or you could just own 2 guitars...
Remember... You can never have too many guitars.. Scab |

they are both sweet guitars.
just dont make the mistake of wanting the hellraiser back after getting rid of it if your not happy with the ibby, which is what i've done with guitars and basses many a time. I've got two guitars and first which I bought was Ibanez RG 7321 with Dimarzios. It was pleasure to play on it but after 3 years I had problems with tuning and I had to buy new one ... So, I checked lot of guitars on internet and I decided on Schecter Blackjack C-7. When I did get it I was dissapointed, I felt that it is not this guitar ... But after few days of playing and months on Schecter I will sell the Ibanez guitar ... Definately ...
