Search is your friend

The guitar is a plain, shiny black.

My review of the guitar:

Long thread on the whole locking-stud issue:

Hope that helps,

I used to have a 1527 and had no problems with the tremolo what so ever, except it was a bit stiff. They only come in blue now a-days its the second best seven string neck I've owned aside from the UV777BK anyway here are some pics

I have one of these and I can honestly say it performs just as well as my Lo-Pro equipped 7s. Having said that I do intend to perform the stud mod to hopefully avoid longer-term damage.

Where have you seen this? If it was here then it'll be the Black Exclusive, a plain black finish. The other black finish currently available is the Japanese market Galaxy Black. You can see it in the Japanese section of the offficial Ibanez page. That's a sparkle black. Also there used to be a Black Pearl finish available a few years ago on the European & Japanese markets. It was a very slightly lighter shade of the Galaxy Black finish.

I have the RG1527GK which is the galaxy black 1527. There is a picture of it (maybe 2 pics of it) in the photo gallery (uploaded by Naren). Like awakened_sleeper mentioned, it is a Japan-only guitar. Normally Royal Blue is the only color the 1527 is available in for the US, but music123.com had a normal black 1527 special, I believe.

Doesn't the Galaxy Black version also have the bigger "Ultra" neck as well? Also, Music123 still has the black verison and it's $749 shipped. I'm 2 paychecks away from owning one.

The RG1527 has also come in "cosmic blue" which is actually a very purple-ish blue sparkle. Clearing up the differences in the blacks, galaxy black is just black metalflake whereas black pearl is a metallic black with a gold pearl giving a dark grey metallic finish with a gold sheen.

The purple-ish finish has long since gone; Ibanez don't make it anymore (thank God, I think)--so you don't have to worry about getting a purple guitar. The blue finish is really nice. I've never been a fan of blue/red colors, preferring to stick black and grey and white, but this guitar changed my opinion. It looks unbelievable and I wouldn't have it any other way.

And from what I understand, the black finish from Music123 is just a standard, shiny black.

There are 5 pictures of my Galaxy Black RG1527 in this thread: http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/general-music-discussion/14918-the-tremolo-solution-mini-pic-story.html (the full body pic is further down the first page). You can judge whether it's an "ultra neck" or not (I've never played any RG1527 other than this one).
