Found this 7620 at the Consignment Shop...

As the title says, I found a '99 RG7620 in Vampire Kiss at the consignment shop for $350. Unfortunately, it got smacked on one of the knobs at one point, to the paint is dinged it pretty badly (might be hard to see in the pics, #2 specifically) - just because of this I'm not sure if it's worth it. It's also missing the ALL the backplates
I took some pics for y'all to give your opinions...do you think it's worth it? I don't, but I'd like some more opinions...

$350 nowadays is a steal for an RG7620 - go grab it. Also it just looks like a paint depression by the knobs. Back plates are easily found online.

Definitely worth it! Try and get it for $300 while you're at it.

Thanks guys. I just wish it was a different color, I'm not in love with the VK color; nickel-whatchamacallit, or that green would have been nicer... How much would you reckon it would cost to get it repainted? Although I doubt I would if I bought it.

Seriously, you guys in America don't know how good you have got it. $350 for that guitar is ridiculous, buy it!

Hey look out! It's an opinion! WTF?!?

Did I mention it comes with a hardcase?
Oof, I dunno about it. The price seems good, and I love the guitar itself, but it's the color I'm not crazy about.

Or the dent thingy

Paint it yourself? It's not that hard. A decent enough paint job can be done with paint cans from your local hardware store.

Rig:
ZWOD-->ISP Decimator-->Peavey XXX-->Mesa Recto 2x12
---Various Shred Guitars---

Good transactions with: Sevenstring, biggness

If anything dude just buy it and resell it. I'm sure some people here would love to buy it off of you or trade you some nice gear for it.

I was thinking the same thing. Buy it, get the back plates, wrap it up, and post it. What do you think I could get for it? Besides that ding around the knob, it's in perfect condition if I recall...

I loveeeee that finish. Wish the 7421 i just bought came in that finish. But you should buy it, seems like a good deal man.

in other news, black is white, up is down, God is Satan, and Cannibal corpse released an album of smooth Jazz. (TreKita)

So, with Christmas money in hand, I've pretty much made up my mind to go and buy this guitar, expect an NGD thread soon

Since I personally don't really like the color, I've decided to refinish the body with quilted maple veneer and some "binding."

Here's my mock-up, minus one string of course - lemme know what you think

And yes, I have some experience and tools so it won't come out like a total piece of crap

that is a pretty good deal.

how deep is that dent? from the pics it looks like it could be just the paint, and maybe the wood itself is not actually depressed very much.

Yeah, that's what I think. I'll be going back again and checking it out once more on Monday (hopefully), so I can make sure it's really what I want. I think I'll get it either way, because I'll be doing a veneer over it anyway.

Anyone know somewhere I can get all the back plates besides IbanezRules? They seem a tad pricey ...

even just a pickguard would cover up that flaw by the knob. that is a factory finish that looks to be in good shape besides the 1 minor blemish. thats alot of good paint to remove or cover for a small imperfection. thats why i went with fourthfloor. my 7620 factory finish is in great shape besides a minor flaw by the pup switch. the graphic can be removed without damaging the original finish or leaving residue

Nice guitar, looks like a cool site
I don't really like the look of a pickguard on this guitar, although I did consider it. I'll probably keep it with it's current paint for a while so I can get a good feel for the guitar and such, then have at it. I also want to refinish it because I like a good project that keeps me busy, as if homework doesn't do that enough
Forgot to mention it but the sides and back of the guitar will be stained basswood, to look similar to the fretboard. But shiiiiny

Haha, I know. I plan on doing a black stain for a coat or two, then a dark brown for the rest. And thanks for the rest of the info as well, I was just looking through the 7620 club thread the other day, some nice guitars in there

there have actually been some preety awesome looking basswood bodied rgs around. a few members had some nice looking basswood bodies on their guitars once stripped. added tung oil and left them natural. looked really nice in contrast to the dark fingerboard

oh, lexan (available at lowes and homedepot) makes a great d-i-y control cavity cover material. i tried plexiglass but it shatters. the lexan cuts and sands great without shattering when cut, or melting when sanded with a dremmel. plus you can paint the back any color you want and it will always look good

Yeah I saw a few of those around here. I guess what I'll do is strip it, see how good the wood is, and adjust my plan accordingly, although I'd like the top to be a bit more interesting than I think basswood could ever be . Thanks for all your help! Man, I want this thing NOW

we havent even scratched the surface of how wonderful these play
we have just talked cosmetics, im excited for you

before you think about pup swaps, it comes with dimarzio which are alot better than what they use now. they are very capabale pups. the only reason i swapped the ones in my 7620 is cuz i had a 7621 with the same pups at the time. ( i swapped for dimarzio blaze customs)
