Problem with my Schecter Helllraiser C-7

So I was recording today for my band and I notice my palm mutes are really muffled. It turns out I'm getting really shitty palm mutes from my guitar, mainly because the bridge.

Anyone ever have this problem and would buying a new bridge help?

Also my pick ups probably need to be resoldered because I get a staticky noise whenever I adjust the tune/volume knobs and my gain is really low. My other guitarist's LTD F 217 (?) sounds way heavier with the 707/81 combo.

could be a dying battery too, if you haven't checked that, i'd do that first, before messing with anything else

I considered that but my guitarist says that when the battery dies it just shuts off. I guess it's time to change the battery though, I've been using it for over 6 months.

It doesn't necessarily shut off.
It gets extremely muddy and just flat out horrendous.
As for palm mutting have you checked your hand positioning and make sure you aren't covering to much of the string?

Yea haha, my guitarist tried out the guitar and it did the same. I tried a bunch of palm mute positions and it didn't help. I'll change the battery and see if it gets better.

If that doesn't help take it to someone to get a full settup done and they'll make sure everything is in working order. I did this for my old Washburn and it sounds like it did when it was brand new now.

Yea I really should do that. I got the guitar on ebay and haven't gotten it set up or anything. It sucks because the neck pickup vol knob makes static noises like I said so i can't use the EMG 60-7 for volume swells, and the tone I get for the 60 is incredible!

As for the static, I'd try some contact cleaner in it before anything else.

Your controls get dust in them which causes the static-y sound when you turn your knobs. I would suggest doing a google for directions on how to clean them and follow the directions.

That is a quick over view I guess.

yup battery problem imo, my LTD has active EMG's and its easy to tell wen the battery is on its way out since your tone sounds like a pigs ass.
