Damn, the chrome with the flip-flop orange is awesome. Beautiful work, as always...

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

+1 @ the headstocks. i LOVE 3x3 and 4x3 headstocks. funny i guess, since i own 4 Ibanez's, all with that pointy, inline headthings

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Conceptually, the headstock comes from entirely practical concerns. We started with 27" scale length 7-strings. That can be a very difficult guitar to keep balanced and as a player, balance is critically important to me. The smaller 3x4 headstock was one of several design decisions that were intended to keep the guitar both light weight and well balanced.

Those pickups on the new model look a bit like Gretsch Filtertrons. Do they sound anything like them?

They're TV Jones TV'trons. TV Jones makes all of the high end Gretsch pickups these days and has been making pickups for Brian Setzer for years. The TV'tron is just a humbucker sized mount for his pickups. When use his pickups, it's always the same combination: two Filtertrons with a Classic in the neck and a hotter Plus in the bridge. They sound exactly like a standard Filtertron with the same winding specs.

Man, six strings look so odd to me now... the bridges, necks and headstocks all look so disproportionately small.

I can't say anything more articulate than that. Jim, one day I firmly intend to own one of your guitars.

When I started playing 7-strings I immersed myself for about a year, not even picking up a 6-string. When I finally tried one of my old guitars, it felt like a ukelele in my hands.

And thanks to all for the many kind remarks. We've gotten really busy and I don't get around here as much as I ought to but I really do appreciate all the support.
