![]() | Anyone tried this? Tremelo block idea... Hey guys! Here's the deal... i recently got an RG7620. I really want to be able to use the trem on it. This typically wouldn't be a big deal, but my band has been playing around with some stuff in drop A lately, and during practice, we hop around between standard and drop A quite a lot. Needless to say, a Floyd doesn't cope too well with that. I'd be retuning for pretty much all of practice. I've got the trem blocked right now, but i have an idea... Here's my idea: make a block that fits absolutely perfectly behind the tremelo block in the back of the guitar. Then, remove the tremelo spring cover from the back of the guitar, and cut off the last 1.5 or so inches of it, so that now even when i have the spring cover on the guitar, i can see the tremelo block and everything. Whenever i want to switch to drop A, i simply slide the block in. When i go back to standard and want to use the trem, i just pop the block out. Would this cause any problems at all? |

I got one of these things from Kevan on thursday, and while I'm going to give it a few more days before I post a full review, the thing rocks. -D "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |

I haven't gone back simply because I think it's kinda funny - the man's a total tool, so I figured no one would think I meant that. Basically, I begged Kevan for two years, lol. Eventually, I convinced him I'd be a good guy to have testing one of these things because 1.) very few of them have been installed in 7's yet, and whether or not they're compatable is a surprisingly common question, and 2.) I'm (sadly) a bit of a guitar dork and thus have a fairly high-profile online presence, so if I'm impressed by the thing (which I am - full review coming probably tomorrow), a lot of people will hear about it. So, hold on till tomorrow morning and I'll go into depth on the thing. ![]() -D |

![]() | Actually, I do the same thing with my band, but the way I do it is when I change the strings or tune my guitar, I make it so I can tune the B down to an A with the fine tuner. It doesnt throw anything to far out of whack, and its easier than using the actual tuner (if thats how youre doing it). When you tune or change the strings on your guitar just set the fine tuner to be a little past halfway (down towards the bridge, sharp I guess) It took a few tries to get it right, but now it works everytime. ![]() "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dreams." - Willy Wonka ![]() |

![]() | and I tune back and forth a lot during just one practice, and it works pretty damn good, and I have a RG7420 with whatever the stock bridge is, definately not high end. |

![]() | I was just wondering, would a tremsetter work? I was thinking, take off the nut locks, and just swap the tunings as necessary, throw back the nut lock when whammy work is required. ![]() |
