Keeps that irritating ringing noise out (especially when recording). You can also get rid of it by buying a Steinberger.

yep, stops strings behind the nut ringing. if you have a long headstock like I have on the ran, u can strum them and it sounds like a harp or something.
I have a planet waves elastic cable tie around the headstock instead, and some electrical tape on the trem springs |

you need to use thick foam too. if you use "filter" foam of something really light it won't do anything.
i have foam behind the nut and bridge of my Septor. kills that blasted ringing. |

People ask me this on my YouTube page all the time. I told a guy I put the foam there to soften the blow when I drop my guitars on the floor. He believed me. Win.

I know a lot of people who use it just use the stuff that pickups come boxed in. I'd love to know where to get some too as I don't have any pickup boxes laying around. Right now I just have one of my sister's little hair things on there.

I had an extra piece of Aurelex Acoustic foam laying around. I just cut a piece off that. You could use any kind of foam, really. Just don't cut up your mum's couch cushions.

I, too, use cable ties and stuff like that, and I put modeling clay in my trem springs...hey, no one's gonna see it, so it doesn't have to look pretty.

I'm going to try my really dense underwear. Perhaps just cut out a chunk in the front part so it's easy to get the trouser dragon out. Of course I'll have to cut the chunk down because that hole has got to be huge... of course.

I use a hair-tie, doubled up. It was a bitch to get it over the headstock, but I made it work. I have tons of them lying around from when I had long hair.

I use foam behind the nuts of all my guitars.
And my Ibanezs i have foam under the springs to stop vibrations. Works pretty nice. I just used foam from an old mic case thing. |
