If they're filled correctly, it's no issue. "Lined Fretless" usually means the lines are left in place for those of us that can't intonate by ear.

you can even fill them with something like a maple veneer, so you have light colored lines where the frets lie...a guy in my class who built 2 pedal steels did this, as did a guy who built a 6 string bass with 12 frets and the rest of the board fretless....

I've seen this done with 'fretless' basses before.

I think i'd need lines myself if i was even to consider having a fretless guitar.
That said though,i played a violin for a while when i was a kid (not too successfully mind you)and they're fretless and you soon get to know where the notes are.
Those Vigier guitars (or some models at least)are available with a fretless aluminium board apparently.
