What VSTi plugins do you guys use?

I'm new to Cubase. I must say its a ton of fun. and looking around for plugins is neat too. So far I have Waves. I guess thats a must have program for mixing and such? What other neat or must have plugins should i take a look at?

The ones I use most are probably the Waves Q equalizer and RComp.. those might be the only Waves ones I still use actually aside from the De-esser. Other than that, I mostly use Superior 2's built in plug-ins, Cubase's built in mod delay, and then a free plugin called G Clip.

If you have Cubase, make use of its automation and mix with that. As far as mastering, I use Ozone along with Wavelab.

You said VSTi so I'm assuming you mean virtual instruments. That all depends on what you want. Orchestral? Synth? Drums? Be specific or I'll give you pages of suggestions

I'm so blackmetal, I poop glaciers.

Rcomp, timeworks compressor(works similar to the GClip), vintagewarmer, REQ are the vst plugins I use on my projects at the moment.

Vsti I use the most are superior drummer 2 and Legacycell.

For vsti midi things I recommend anything that looks like Quantum Leap or Native Instruments. They have the most awesome samples and it all works really nice.

I also use garritan personal orchestra plugin for the orchestral stuff.

And the free and tiny MDA JX-10 analog synth

Ezdrummer is my bestest friend

have a look (and surely a listen) here if you want to know more about Kompakt samples (from Quantum Leap)

cheers!

Yeah, EZDrummer's awesome. Haven't had the chance (money) to try Superior Drummer 2 yet, but it's gonna happen.

You'd be surprised at the quality of some free VSTi as well. I'm at work right now, so I can't type out my list o' stuff. For demo-ing purposes some free string/brass/keys VSTi programs are great - you just shouldn't expect studio quality stuff until you drop some serious cash on Garritan or otherwise cool programs.

Me Grimlock no bozo, me king!

You're starting out and you're already using Waves you must be quite wealthy...

I'm mostly using Reaper's own plugins, Gclip, DFHS and Kjaerrhus' free stuff. Gonna buy a bunch of Voxengo stuff when I next have some money to spare, such as Elephant 3.

Hahahahahaa, yeah.... right.

I also....recommend Waves! I've got more, but haven't had the need to check them out. Waves does it all.
