"Bulb Tone" test...short Zyglrox snippet (Eureka, PODX3, DFHS)

this is my attempt at the "BULB TONE!" cause let's face it, it's an amazing tone and i have always wanted to at least get close to it, or figure it out. the mix isn't great, but it'll do. let me know what u guys think. sorry for posting threads so close together BTW.

i used a very short snippet of Zyglrox...which i'm pretty sure i didn't play exactly right, but oh well.

it sounds too "filtered" in a way, not enough highs and lows, ya know?

also, too much treble before the distortion. back it off just a wee bit, and it should sound alot closer.

not bad at all though, it´s a hard type of tone to get right. it´s way too easy to make it harsh or boomy or shrill or whatever. it´s all about balance :P

Bloodpodx3test is way better imo. Could you record zyglorx with that tone? Im curious to see the differences.

it does sound filtered. and unfortunately i did a tone test for Kalevala to hear the difference between the tone w/ and w/out the eureka and found there was seriously little to NO difference i guess it really is all about the post production w/ the POD! hey, at least i'll get my $600 back for some studio monitors hahaha. i just have to keep working at my mixes. i'm working on a patch/tone for my band for when i record us, so hopefully these trial and errors w/ the eureka, post production and bulb tone attempts will help with that! gonna try using the "5150" amp sim.

Plankis- yes, if i get a chance i will do that, but i don't want to spend too much time on a bulb cover, i got a sweet little jam i'm workin on w/ some gnarly riffs my guitarist and i came up with, but if i get the time i will do that.

PLANKIS, here ya go dude. so this is the exact same mix from the Blood+PODX3 test, i already can tell it's a fuller brighter mix, but that's because i didn't mix down the ZyglROCKER hahaha, i just posted it for the "Bulb tone" purposes...it really wasn't a mix post, but oh well. i'll fix it and update it on soundclick. so here is the bulb snippet with the bloodPODX3 mix u wanted.

The bloodversion seems to blend better with the rest of the instruments. Very punchy mixes you got, what plugins do you use to make it so loud?

depends on what loud means, if u mean any individual instrument, it's because i send a lot of stuff over to group and fx tracks w/ plugins such as maximizers (bbe, waves L2 etc), but if it's the overall mix, i use TRacks stuff on the master (clippers, or limiters) but i really work at mixing it down loud and good..."good as currently possible anyway..." before doing anything to the master track.

usually "unique" and "interesting" are two words i use when a girl asks how i like her new hair cut that was blatantly butchered at Super Cuts! hahaha, j/k

thanx dude.

EDIT!!!-----------------------------------11/23/08---------------------------------------------

alright, so if anyone even sees this thread or gives a shit...i updated the song to sound more full and bright, i think i made the guitars a little thicker too so...enjoy...?
