Guitarwizard is a jewel in the rough
Preproduction of one of my band's songs

So we made a really rough track of one of our songs lately. It's mainly just for being able to listen to it and see what's wrong and what needs to be changed..
Especially the vocals on this one are really really, I mean reeeaaally bad, it was recorded through a $20 microphone, and without having headphones, so we had to play the music at a really low volume thorugh the loudspeakers, so it was almost a capella for her to sing....
However I'd like to hear your opinions about the song, although this recording was never meant to go public.

Just listen it while thinking "Ok how would it sound with a great production and good vocals"

The definitive recordings will be held in October at fascination street studios in stockholm.

So give it a try:

Sang-Drax is on a distinguished road
It does seem she's holding back a little. But wow, she's a great singer!

Really good song, btw. Looking forward for the final version =)

Yes she is, if she would have been singing too loud she wouldn't have been able to hear the playback over her own voice...

Thank you, btw!

the material sounds good, sounds right for the genre. But the thing I noticed the most was the guitar sound, I think it has so much mid-tone that it just sits on top of the mix.

Even though I don't like female vocals, she is a great singer IMO

great playing btw

Yeah I know about the guitar tone - like I said, don't mind the production, it's just a crappy rehearsal room recording.

THanks!

drawnQ is a jewel in the rough
this is pretty good for a preproduction track

she does need to sing louder and be more commanding. shes obviously got the chops, so she needs to show them off!!

i agree with the one comment about guitar mids being too high in the mix, but its only preproduction.

can't wait to hear the final!

I really dig this. Like it a lot (did i hear some industrial influences in the guitar? ). I'm gonna listen over again a few times tommorrow since i have a 4hour train ride behind me. I will update this post.

For now i just can say:

1. Holy fucking shit!!!! Tell your singer my compliments. I'm serious, her voice is killer!!! Just a tiny bit more aggression so that it gives a counterweight to the guitars and i'm headbanging around the place.
between 01:55 and 02:20 she could bring that bit more aggressiveness to build up tension before the solo... just my proposal. How? Errrrrr..... i don't have a clue yet...

2. I'll post more about the instruments tommorrow. Have to listen it again a few times... hehe

great song for a prepro, really
