Question Need tips for recording vocals.

Everything I record sounds crap, I'm not sure how to explain it but sort of like recording into a cheap tape recorder (remember those ), how do I get that warmth and fullness.

I'm trying to record vocals for the Periphery tracks, not as a try out just for experience, can any of you pro's give me tips on how to record good vocals for those.

I know my room and equipment probably has a little to do with it.

What I have to work with,
MD421
SM57
Pod X3 Live
Garageband

All help and suggestions are appreciated.

FOR SALE
RG2127
RG7EXFX2
Pod X3 Live
Boss MT-2
Possibly my RG2027

If you have a CST to sell now is the time because I am possibly about to be very broke for a long time

What you're used to hearing is a condenser mic. That's not all of the sound, but it's some.

If you're stuck with those mics... I don't know, try them both and see which works. In the DAW, use some compression (no asking for settings, you need to figure those out on your own) and add a touch of reverb until it 'sits' better.
