![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hey, that's pretty good! And the mixing is a lot better than any of mine has come out so far. Helpful criticisms 'cause you asked for them: The volume on the snare is a bit low. It also sounds pretty dry. Compress it more, but leave the attack open a bit so the initial transient can come through with a solid snap. I also might add in just a little bit more of the bottom snare mic, but that's probably more just a matter of personal taste. The kick is just a little low, too. Actually, now that I think about it, maybe the overheads are just a little too high. The whole kit sounds pretty dry. That's not a bad thing necessarily, and it sounds pretty good, but if you're trying to get the sound to be a bit different (especially if you're trying to make things stand out a bit more), tweaking the EQ and compression can have pretty dramatic effects. More vox plz. Did you do any mastering? Everything sounds pretty good, but it all sounds kind of... separated? I can't really think of the word for what I'm trying to say here. ![]() | oh wow, sorry i couldnt check for a while. ill try to answer everybody. i would post patches, but i dont have gearbox or a usb cable haha, but im using a stock rg 7321 (pretty basic). all i did after the pod was eq it, i basically boosted 500- 1000 and cut everything else (not too much though). i will eventually put more vocals on it, im just kinda lazy about writing lyrics. thanks for the advice greg, i'll have to try that because how ive always done it before is trying to mix everything together, not individually. maybe itll help me make it sound better. sam - its weird, but i have the snare turned up so loud right now that its pretty much clipping and it still doesnt cut through could that just be a lack of mids? tom - yeah i know i need to mess with compression and eq's more, but there are just those certain days where ill be at it for hours, and i can end up making it sound worse haha. naw, i dont know how to master audio. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I definitely know how that is! I recently went back to work on an older track, and the guitars on it sound better than on another track which I've been working on the last month or two trying to figure things out. I think I'm going to trash all the progress I've made on the tracks the last few months and just start all over again from the ground up, hopefully incorporating everything I've learned ruining them to make them sound better. Oddly enough, the drums sound a lot better than everything else. |

![]() | The guitar tone is pretty f*cking good. ![]() You do have a good voice. And the vocal lines are nice, too! Look forward to more stuff ![]() And yeah, the snare isn't cutting through the mix - perhaps the cymbals are too loud? |
