Damn dude.

I was happy with how my marshall (TSL) sounded until I heard that.

What did you use to mic and what position did you do? ...and exactly how much effect is that preamp having on the tone?

This stuff sounds absolutely amazing man.

lol that mistake at the beginning in the clean playing is sooo annoying, sorry.

all i have to say is when the guitar comes in it was like a punch in the face. very nice

i love the guitar tone, its so middy and has so much balls for a low gain sound. its got that back-off-the-gain chunk to it which i love, evident in those palm muted chugs.

you used the right amount of gain, fizz is probably my worst enemy. tightness = good tone. what neck pickup do you use? i loved its sound during the loomis uber arpeggios. loved the contrast of neck on the left and bridge in the right, went together nicely

loomis' songwriting = superb imho

Everything about Loomis = superb.

His solo album has been mixed! Not long now!

This recording makes me want to record something with my marshall again - it's been so long since the purchase of the metalshop add-ons.

I have assignments to do though.

Guitar playing/recording is a great/horrible procrastinator, because if I record something, I can't just do a crappy job and whatever, so by the time I'm done, few hours gone by, oh dang.

Hey mang,

im running an SM57 and an e906 together, one straight at where the centre meets the cone and the other off axis perpendicular to the cone inthe centre, but to be honest, i just stuck two mics in front, checked the phase and left it at that. The preamp is one i always use, my cab is a piece of shit 1960, so tends to flub a lot, so the preamp pedal...

can be used to scoop all the bass from the guitar, and then i add it again on the amp. This works like a charm on my herbert, but not so well on the DSL as i get a lot of annoying high frequency stuff going on, which is why the single note stuff doesnt sound so good, but im sure its just a matter of experimenting a little to find what works with the DSL. Also, id check the bias on your TSL if you havent already, i checked mine out of bordem a while back and it was literally half of what it should been, it came alive after i did that

Nice job

(I hate the GP drum track, the rhythms are waaaay off sometimes...)
Yeah the GP drums are just for laziness really, its the reason i didnt do any original stuff, becuase i couldnt be arsed to spend hours building a mouse-click drum track that sounded any good. Thats todays job

Im running an Evo7 in the neck and a D-Activator in the neck, not as good as the nailbombs in my blackmachine, but they sound good for this style anyways

theyre all fucked up becuase of the preamp pedal i was using. Essentially i suck out all the bass on the pedal, so i dont get any of the flubby freqencies which fuck with my cab from my guitar, and them dime them on the amp. But on the DSL, it makes the high frequencies way more prevalent, so i have to back those off. Im also using it as a very slight boost, so im only using ultra gain one, the tighter one, and the gains only on about 5 ish.

Pres: 2
Treb: 3
Mid: 6
Bass: Dimed
Volume: 2.5

No reverb or owt
