Mono/Stereo/What?

Complete noob question here, but i need to know i've been doing things right for the last couple of years recording

Am i right in doing drums stereo, all guitars mono then panned (obviously), bass mono center?

It's what I do, and it works well for me.

Thats pretty much it, you don't use stereo mics on guitars often (multiple mics maybe, but very rarely multi-capsule ones), so you always do them mono. Bass the same, even if you DI them as well as micing, they are mono sources.

Drums need a stereo image, so you pan them as such, and the overheads on them are treated as a stereo pair.

KaLeVaLA is a jewel in the rough
each seperate drum (snare, kick, etc.) should be in mono. But if you export an entire drumset it should be in stereo.

Can't really add anymore to what's been said, the only think you mentioned that could possibly be stereo is a single overhead track, but normally you'd have two or more mono overhead tracks instead.

I record everything to a seperate mono track - there's no reason you couldn't, say, record a stereo acoustic to a single stereo track, but I figure there's no real gain to do it this way, and going mono gives you more control over the stereo panning later on.
