I heard somewhere you can cover a song for public performance but can't distribute a recording, I think as mentioned above it's only a problem if you are making money from it.

Ride the Lightning got my vote. I would actually cover it if I had a microphone, a way to make drums (I'm not very good at drums and I suck at programming them), and owned a bass...

But I voted for RtL because it's the best Metallica album in my opinion and I know the guitars and vocals for the song Ride The Lightning backwards and forwards.
