Muting floyd springs for recording
Having issues with this, on dead stops the springs ring out, so:
1) What do you guys use? 2) Where can i get it within the UK? |

I heard someone on here say that they used heat shrink tubing on the springs. Said it really helped, not to mention looked neat. I can't remember who did this though.

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |

I just stick foam between the springs and the body. On some guitars I've used tissues or old socks (washed tho!). Socks worked, and the tissues worked too if there were lots of them.

I've used a small piece of foam for this since I got my first Floyd. It works fine...

There was that video of some dude who put plastic tubing inside the trem springs on his fender and it worked like a charm. I'd be wary of putting something like a cloth or a sock, if you did a big dive, so the springs were stretched out, when you released it you might get some of the cloth or sock trapped between the coils of the spring, making it return slightly flat.

I've always been careful with the spacing on the foam so it rests against the springs without binding up in them... |

I'd think that there'd be a lot less of an issue with foam anyways, unless it's packed in there tighter than hell. I suppose you could do the same with a cloth or a sock, but still
