I reckon Duct tape is a bit too heavy duty, dude. Masking tape would do better. It's low tack, generally (the stuff I used to mask off my fretboard when I scrubbed the frets was, anyhow).

folded up paper towel. It's the cheapest option, and it works like a charm.

Sinner had the most professional string muting job ive ever seen in his baratto proto
He had heatshrink tubing over the length of the springs (much like regors, but much more aesthetically pleasing, not that that matters) and a very precisely cut foam job installed.

I originally was going to use heat shrink tubing, but that stuff can get very hard when heated, and I was worrying about it not flexing and eventually cracking. Whereas the surgical tubing is rubber and will flex as the spring flexes, but yet it is very dense and hugs the springs very tightly, thus absorbing all vibrations whatsoever.

I used to take foam, but once I tried duct tape I never looked back.

Just rip off about an inch squared, then wrap around the middle of the spring. It keeps it silent and doesn't hinder tremolo action in any way.

Electrical tape works the best (The cheap kind, such as MMM77 or 85) because the adhesive is soft, and the tape is vinyl and very flexible. Great stuff

CGord is a jewel in the rough
I cut up an old washrag, laid one sheet over the top of the springs. Works great.

I just put tisse paper into the spring cavity of my prs, put the cover plate over it, done. No problems. Quick, easy and doesn't cost a penny.
