What is it specifically that you're lacking punch with dude? I think the snare sounds fine btw, the kick could possibly be a touch more clicky for the style, i think it would suit a nice thrashy click. give it a nudge to 4k/8k range with a narrow Q, 250hz scoopage ![]() | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First of all - you have to use your own ears... frequency guidelines are just that guidelines, so use these as a starting point a tweak from there... Kick - Compression - use a high ratio 10:1 - 20:1, fast attack, fast release. Set the attack all the way up, and slowly back it down until the kick starts to slam (probably around 5-10ms?). EQ - Cut a ton in the 200-300 range. For the click boosting 3k will give you a sharp pointy sound, boosting up at 5k will give you a softer click sound. Snare - Compression - Use a medium ratio 4:1 - 8:1. Use a slightly slower release than the kick, but set the attack using the same method as the kick. EQ - boosting in the 100-200 range will give you body and power, cut a bunch in the 200-600 range to get some clarity (less boxy sounding). Boosting at 1k will give you a lot of cut, but is a little "round" sounding. Boosting at 3k will give a crack sound to the snare, and boosting at 5k will give it more of a "snary" sound. Good luck. ...that the play is the tragedy, "Man" http://www.fools-game.com/ |
