New idea, Drop E tuning w/Agile baritone and Pod X3L!

tell me what you think!

edit: slight re-EQ, balanced the volume of the lead guitars

The lead might need to go down a little in volume. or bring up the drums and the rhythm section to match them

And add cowbell.

Productive Desecration Since 2004

whenever i tune down that low, i find i don´t need to add any bass, except for a couple of parts. like in this song, the bass kicks in at the same time as the lead part, to make things sound huge. the bass is tuned an octave down aswell, so it´s drop E an octave lower than usual. it´s eq´d to bring out the really really low frequencies too, so it goes "BAM! RIGHT IN THE KISSER" when it kicks in

i´m loving the baritone for sure

That sounds pretty cool, however I thought things got kinda messy once the lead kicked in, they are definately too dominating. Other than that nice work.

In your face drums? I think your kicks there, maybe it could use some more upper mids for click and maybe same with the snare. A real powerful CRACK will get peoples attention, I know my drummer likes that. Just hit it damn hard every time.

nine squares is a jewel in the rough
love the ending :P no seriously, this was reeeeeeallly low man, and cool. I agree on the lead popping out a bit. try to lower it a little and maby do a tiny dipp at around 1 kHz, you know a happy mouth visualwise. the rythm guitars has so much low evilness in them so anything that´s "clear" for example your lead, tend to pop out. but hey, its a matter of taste and you should go with what you feel is the best. cool tune

gött mos!

He who seeks, is searching for something... oh jeah, really?

i´d have to re-eq the rhythm guitars i think, or maybe re-work the focal point of the lead´s eq in that case. i kinda like how it sounds so huge and droning though, so if i have to sacrifice that, i won´t do it :p

and i´m always changing my Pod patches alot... i actually found a really good way to tweak patches: you record, and use an EQ (i use a 4 band visual EQ, just like the one inside the pod) to tweak the sound until it sounds great in the mix. then i just transfer those settings into my pod´s parametric EQ :P

and FoxZero, did you accidentally post in the wrong thread? it looks like you were intending to post in the "in your face drums" thread :P

but if not, then thanks anyways

and i found that clearing my head of all "EQ-ing theory" and expectations really helped me out with the drums. the kick is riddled with low-mids and stuff i would never use in a kick drum usually, and i stopped adding too much highs in my snare (though i´m not sure if i did that enough :P)

also, i separate my tracks: one for kick one for snare, and one for overheads and room mics. usually i runn the overheads and room mics separate, but i thought it was kinda pointless in the end, so i use the same track for both, and it works very well :P

and thanks to all, i´ll re-eq the whole damn thing once i have good monitoring equipment. i´ll re-eq everything else that i have at the same time then as well
