Recommend a good laptop for recording

I'm between two addresses at the moment so i can't cart my tower back and forth. I dont just want any old laptop, it needs to have good audio specs, fast processing etc,

apple or pc, doesn't bother me. what do you recommend?

hmm...well, a friend of mine recently bought a Macbook (not pro) ...and he was positively surprised beeing able to use Logic including 8 or 9 plugins without any trouble!

But...i would def. go for a Macbook pro when it comes to laptop! I have the 17" myself not for music, but for graphic design) , and its awesome!

I use a Macbook Pro for portable recording, its superb, quick as anything, however the Macbooks now are specced up enough that you dont particularly need to go pro now anyway. I'd definitely recommend them

I'll throw in a half vouch (because I' ve never used the equipment myself)

I'm an avid PC user for virtually everything however with music I would prefer those little macbooks. I've watched my roomates from Boston with those things and it did about everything they needed. If I had the extra-cash with some musical drive, I would buy one of those things myself!

Macbook or Macbook Pro. And if for some reason you'd ever need to use PC software. Use Bootcamp to make a PC partition. You'll find that the Macbooks run PC DAW software like Sonar just fine.

Macbooks = Win/Win (IMHO)

Personally I'd recommend Apple over any PC (including Linux based variants), but thats just my opinion. For music, you can't go wrong with a Mac, its almost like they were built for it.

Macbook Pro for sure, but get a 15" because the 17" ones are renowned for the screens warping after a while.

I've got a Macbook Pro, used macs my entire life (my dad's an avid user) and going onto a PC is like torture to me, I just cannot stand how illogical everything seems on them in comparison. Most of my friends who were avid about PC's are now Mac users and now they're used to them they swear by Apple computers.

those musicxpc pro laptops are pretty damn good if you want a windows based (xp also...not ram hog vista) recording laptop. my buddy had one...it had plenty of processor speed and upgradeable ram and a very good sound card...plus it was very quiet as in no magnetic frequencies were getting picked up by the onboard components of it...it has no problem running 40g libraries, of say an orchestral vsti or something. very fast, very reliable (he's had an older model for about 2 years i believe), very,very little to no latency issues in any recording DAW...i'm just not a mac fan (no offense guys, just not my thing) and if you want a windows-based laptop as a dedicated recording system, then this is probably your best bet...
