Which hard drive should i use out of my 2 for recording[nuendo]?

guys some advice please.im reinstalling nuendo on my system.
current specs-p4 1.7g,1024 ram, raideon 9800 g/c,o/b sound [ac97 but i use my toneport as s/c].3 hard drives.1 40gb(f),1 120gb(e) and 1 160gb(c).c drive has XP and all the operating gear.the other 2 have very little on them and i can free either up completely if need be.so guess it comes down to two h/ds 40 or 120.?or any other suggestions?
thanks for any help advice

Put your audio on the drive that does not have your apps and system on it

The fastest of the two would be best

You dont mention their RPM, but my guess would be that would be the e drive 120gb

Word of advice

Once you have installed all your apps and are ready to go, get a copy of Ghost and ghost your c drive onto the 40gb one

That way if you the system dies, you can restore the image without having to reinstall all your apps and windiz

good luck

Yea if you have 2 drives don't save your work on the one with your registry and system and shit. Use the other one.

You can then (if need be) restore your computer without even touching the other hard drive.

Also make sure you aren't swapping to the recording drive.

What I meant was install Nuendo onto the hard drive with XP and everything. Then save your work on one of the other hard drives so if anything happens to your computer you still have your work safe on another hard drive. You could even save it onto the other free drive as well so you have 2 copies so if anything happens to one of the drives you still have a copy.

Id actually recommend running 2+ drives in raid, if thats at all possible.
If you can, get a pair of the ~36gb raptors, but for any other type id recommend Samsungs SataII drives

I would say put the fastest/smallest drive for your operating system. Defraging a 160gb is like looking into the abyss. And defraging can make a noticeable difference depending your programs (I noticed it with adobe 2.0 and fruityloops, since they are constantly reading from their source).

Just my opinion/experience.

Oh, and I would do this

(if all of the drives were the same speed)

40-system and programs (gaming, recording, ect)
120-for non volitale stuff like random pics or music, just all of the crap that you have but wouldn't cry if you lost, and copies of mp3 mixes of your music
160-for anything you desperately want to keep.

And I would say ONLY download to your non-volitale drive, that way you dont get a virus that will either keep installing when you wipe, or have to wipe your recording drive.
