![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Mazafaka i would seriously consider checking out this forum right here also look thru and read the suggestestions and look at the pics particulary on page 3 that guy is using a 5150 combo almost the same to your new 6505.I would consider either a sm57, audix i5 or the senne e609 all dynamic mics all right around the same price. They key to getting a good sound is MULTI tracking your not going get a killer sound with just one take you gotta record that same part at least 4 times and pan each part hard left and right. Also look into sneaps c4 setting (plug in) and eq in your daw helps alot.To get your guitar to leave room for bass try a high pass filter on you guitar tracks from 80hz and above maybe even as high as 100-125hz depending on how closely your bass part follows your guitar, try a lil bump around 1000khz as well. I also second the idea of covering your cab with blankets good luck anymore questions just ask http://ultimatemetal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=221136 |

Like Desertdweller said... it's a matter of taste. Condenser mics are generally of a higher quality performance and specification wise. I've had a Sennheisser e609 and an SM57 and I'd never been happy with the sound they produced and have been quite happy with the sound I get through my Rode NT1 so I sold the others. And by the way... believe it or not when albums are recorded you'd be surprised how more than not mics other than SM57's are used. Professional studios usually have very pricey mics that offer a better sound. The new rave for recording guitar amps is Ribbon Mics. Supposedly ribbons offer the truest most natural sound free from the nasal effects and sizzle effects of dynamics and condensers. I'd like to pick up a Royer R122 but don't have the $1500 to blow nor am I recording an album yet. When the time comes though I may pick one up. Rev. | |
