Mark IV clips :

Hi guys,

Finally gotten down to miking up the cabinet and whipped up some unadulterated Mark IV clips. I tried out two miking positions with the SM57. One position had the mic placed on the edge of dust cap and the other was between the speaker edge and the dust cap. Both were an inch off the grille.

Music page of Nitsuj - MP3 music page on SoundClick

Here's my chain : RG7620 w/ Lundgren -> Mark IV -> Legacy 4x12 -> SM57 -> RNP -> MOTU -> DAW (No EQ applied).

Would like to get your thoughts about it.

Cheers,

I like your tone, but for my taste I would like it to be little heavier, but it's just me

Not bad.

It lacks that 'edge' I really like for metal rhythm, but I think that's 1) just a Mark thing, and 2) maybe the speaker cab. Legacy cabs are fairly warm, aren't they?

That said, I'm a total Mark whore. I pretty much always love their tone, John Sykes to Petrucci to Lamb of God.

You're right about the Legacy being warm. It's the only available cab with V30's from where I'm located. Would like to get my hands on a Boogie cab to beefen up and make complete. Gotten hold of some EL34's coming my way, maybe that'll agro things up.

Thanks.

you're right about the Legacy cabs .
I used to run my JSx thru one and I thought it sounded great.
I like your tone (I'm gasing for a Mark IV big time).
I would go for something a little heavier myself, but I like it.

Can I be the devil on your shoulder?
