A New Song I Recorded (Rough Draft)

Hey all, I was messing around with my Fostex FD-8 and recorded a new song but it's a rough draft and it will be worked on more. It's just guitar tracks for now just to get a rough idea of how Im going to be recording the song. Maybe you all could give me some ideas on what to do with the song.

I'd like to share it with you all here, comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Enjoy!

I have only listened to it once so I can't come up with any constructive advice as yet but I really like the rhythm tracks. The initial lead tracks seem a little unnecessary. I feel when you re-record it you could leave the initial riff bare (no lead) doubling up the guitars with a slightly different sound on the 2nd guitar just to emphasise the main riff.

The lead in the middle to end is great and I really like the transitional licks between riff changes. On the strength of the rhythm line alone I think this could be a fucking mega track. If I get a chance to listen to it again I will chip in ...

Wow, that rocks! I'm always impressed with your songwriting, Shawn. If I could offer one piece of constructive advice (and this is just opinion, of course), I would put a little more assertion into the lead work during the first quarter or so of the song. I'm not sure what the right word is to describe it, but if I could personify it, it sounds to me like a person hiding in a corner. I don't know, maybe that's what you were going for. After the first quarter the solo totally rips though!

I know, the solo is excessive, to me anyway. I was just coming up with ideas on how to solo over the rhythm. Im definately throwing out some leads to make the song more of a rhythmic song (my band will try to steal it from me though ). Im trying for once to write a song for just me and not for my band and it is hard seeing how it would probably sound better with a band and some lyrics. Im playing around with it. Thanks for your compliments, guys!

The riff is cool. At the beginning, i gotta agree. its 'uncertain'.. kinda like a musical 'Ummm...." bout 1:15 or so in, it gets a lot better phrasing wise. cool though.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Yeah, I've written a few new parts that I could add. Im in the process of not entirely changing or rearranging the song but more or less re-working it. Thanks for listening!
