![]() ![]() ![]() | I dont have any problems with protool's Midi. I "midi" all sorts of external devices and virtual devices with no issues or latency issues. I started out using acid and soundforge a long time ago then made the jump to PT with my Digi002. It took me about a month to be comfortable but it was worth the wait. The hardware is easy to set up and the software is set up very logically and user friendly so you dont spend a crap load of time figuring out how to do something. Plus ther are alot of good video tutorials available. Bassy mixes are no doubt due to your monitoring system. Good monitors and a good set of headphones are key. Get a huge stack of blank CDs and burn lots of reference cds to get a feel. After a while you'll know if what your monitoring will be too bassy etc.. there are a lot of great plugins for PT some free but most are not. While the built in Digi-rack are not the best, they will do the Job. "and I sure as shit don't fucking roll! Shomer shabbos!" |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Now you mention it, I've been having slight latency issues when using external midi equipment into protools (electric drum kit and keyboard) has anyone encountered this and knows how to fix it? |

If the problem is when you are recording, try turning off non-esential plug ins and tracks. If it is when you are playing back, nudge the other tracks forward some. In either case make sure you don't have any plug ins on your master bus as that will cause delays. For playback, is "automatic delay compensation" available in LE? At one point it was not. In PTHD, you check that option and everything lines up nicely (for playback, still doesn't help for recording). ...that the play is the tragedy, "Man" http://www.fools-game.com/ | |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Global midi offset preference in protools- make sure it's set to zero.. Lower Latency buffering to 64 rather than 1024. |

![]() | Thanks for the responses guys. From what you guys are saying, Pro Tools sounds awesome, but I just don't have the money to spend $250 on the software plus another $300 for an interface. I'm slowly but surely fixing my bassy mixes, with test upon test upon test with different sounds. I was hoping Pro Tools would help solve that faster, because post-recording EQ's would make it a lot easier to, say, filter some of the bass out of a specific guitar track, or add some treble to a particular vocal track. Acid is very limited in terms of what you can do post-recording, at least the version I have. But I can deal with it for now, at least until I get the money to make the jump to protools. Thanks again! If you're out there and you're cute, maybe you're beautiful, I just wanna tell you something... there's more of us ugly m*ther f*ckers then you are. -Frank Zappa Myspace.com/shooternow |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | First off, I've not used protools That being said, I think the interfaces available for protools are pretty meh compared to what's available to use with other platforms. I use cubase, along with a presonus firebox at home and a mackie onyx 1640with firewire for full band projects, both work great |

![]() ![]() | What ext preamps work great with protools? Mbox/Mbox2/degidisign? Would drum software like DFH work with Protools? |
