It seems a bit crowded in the mix. Nothing really seems to have its own space, and its making it sound sort of busy. It got way better around the 2:30 mark though.

A little to much cymbals,
Personal opinion: You need some bass, |

wicked tune man!! i don't know a lot about this but in my humble opinion there's something hapening there with the cymbals, to much bright on them (maybe), and there's a part (0:27) when the other guitar comes in, it gets fuzzier (it doesn't sound solid-define)...

Yeah, you need to create some space in there. The instruments' frequencies are stepping all over each other in the mid-range.
Kick sounds good... snare is okay... could bring the kick down and snare up a little, to my ears, but not bad where they are. Cymbals are definitely doing something funky... what are you using for drums? It may be just the patch. Could use a little more definition in the kick, especially on the fast stuff before and around the 6 minute mark... maybe experiment with taking some mids and/or bass out? It's funny, if that was an acoustic kick, I could tell you exactly how to tune it (less muffling, front head a little tighter) to get it right! ![]() I have to disagree with 7DT ( ) about the guitar mids, I think they need less, not more. Perhaps more panning, or fewer layers, to get some separation in there. They cymbals and guitars are occupying a lot of the same space, which is really bouncing things around in the upper-mids. Hmm, maybe it's upper-mids you can pull out of the guitars to clear things up a little? There is something weird with the cymbals though, all the way through... the hihat sound in the mellower section is actually how the crashes and open hat are sounding the whole time. There's no room for keyboards right now... it sounds like there's a lot of guitar layers in there, if so I'd really recommend pulling some out, that'll clear up a lot of space. Mixing is hard - I can't do it, but on the recordings I've done, I've been blessed to work with some people who really new what they were doing and liked to talk about it! Good luck with it - the tune is awesome, and your playing is top notch! ![]()
MY Space - writing about depression and music
MY Music - writing about depression and... well, music Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently.
