Dedicated Computer

Okay I have a plan. This will not be an over the night plan but it has me inspired. I have a few things I am selling(rc cars, helicopters worth thousands) already know people who want alot of it so that would give me a good head start. I've come to the conclusion that I would like to do my recording and mixing on a dedicated computer. I'm thinking an Apple Laptop of some sort. It doesn't even have to be an apple it's just I see so many people using these. This computer will not be used for internet like I said recording/mixing perposes only. I was going to go with the boss br series route but I am so much better on the computer everything is so much easier to do on the computer. So I'm open to any suggestions for a nice comp for mixing and recording. I can then buy all the software for drums etc. once I have me a decent computer in my hands. Thanks in advance.

BTW just thought I would add my podxt should be in in a few days I can't wait man I'm loving my guitar tone so much it's got me all pumped up again kinda feels like I'm just starting again it's incredibly refreshing the Blaze Bridge with the mids all the way down on the amp makes this one violent fuking pickup.

I for one want to hear other's input on this subject, I'm coinsidering getting an imac as a dedicated recording computer so anything along the lines of suggested plug-ins, programs, and software would be greatly helpful.

I'm a Windows guy out of necessity (I play a lot of games) and there's nothing wrong with my XP machine when it comes to recording. (it has NEVER crashed )

If I ever get a PC strictly for recording I will probably go with a Mac. It just seems like a good choice for that kinda stuff, and I really want to own at least one Mac at some point.

Windows would only be a bad choice in the context of Vista right now. It's kind of unproven, and while Chris may disagree with me I always tell people to wait 6 months to a year before jumping to a new Windows OS.

As far as XP goes, it solid as a fookin' rock for me. But I also have no problems with OSX, and am looking forward to having one as my main computer at my new job.

In the end they're both tools, and you have to figure out what's most comfortable for you so the OS doesn't get in the way of making music.
