heavier strings are more masculine, every knows that you puny little girly men. if it doesn't make things more difficult, it's not cool. lol

lol yeah at guitar center this one guy totally kicks ass on guitar. I mean he can do pretty much anything metal related.......with a set of 9's......now not long ago I brought in my k7 with much thicker strings but still not all that thick .60 at the top can't remember the other ones off hand.....but he totally sucked playing my K7 and his hands started cramping immediately he couldn't even hit one pinch harmonic and he tried over and over.....made me feel pretty good because I was totally kicking his ass on the guitar that day. He kept asking me "How in the hell can your fingers handle those thick ass strings like they do?" shit I've gone much thicker on my 6 stringer I guess I've just built up alot of strength because I can play this thing all day with no hand cramping issues.
Ah, the suffering. The sweet suffering.

dude the truth is that playing thicker strings just makes you better at playing thicker strings, you just need time to adjust. i used to play 10s and 11's back in the day without a problem, at first it was tough, but then in no time i was playing them like they were normal, playing 10's and 11's makes you good at playing 10's and 11's no more, no less. Switching to 9's was weird at first, and then i got used to it, you should just stick with whatever sounds better to you, and i like light strings hehe!

i still prefer the tone of thicker strings. you can really hear it SRV's playing ... for metal behind a wall of distortion? i dunno ... but when you play a broken up clean tone you can hear a difference ... not that it's better or worse, it's just a bit different.

no! *djent! djent! djent! djent!*
Btw... I still dont really know what a djent sounds like... I kinda think I know... but tell me a certain riff or time in a song were djent is used extensively!

AH! my favorite track of the album.
So its pretty much just a kid of distortion obtained through many different factors? |
