Cubase - how are the current versions?

I've been using Cubase VST 5.2PB1 for the longest and have been very happy with it for the mostpart. I like the look, layout, and ease of customization. In the past when I've done upgrades and such to my hardware I've come across quirks that pop up in VST that sometimes require a reinstall over the current installation. Well, I upgraded my PC this weekend and found another one of these quirks today. For some strange reason the volume control of VSTi's would just stop functioning while everything else continued working fine. A reinstall over the installation fixed the problem but that just pissed me off to the point where I'm considering a possible upgrade.

So, how is Cubase 4 (for those that have it) or Cubase SX3.1 since most are probably still on that? I want to know how many unusual glitches there are in the software. I hate glitches where everything is working away fine then out of nowhere something stops working or starts exhibiting some strange behaviour. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback on it's stability as everytime I deal with one of these fucking glitches it ruins my mood and wastes my night trying to problemsolve which means a night of possible music writing fucking wasted.

Cubase 4 is cool, but it cut a lot of support for some plugins... so make sure yours work before switching. There's a ton of info over at the cubase forums - http://www.cubase.net.

Honestly thought, if you can avoid C4, get SX3 IMMEDIATELY! It's the best product Steinberg has released to this day.

Really? Good to hear. So I take it it's very stable and doesn't have any, or much of, those quirky unexplained glitches as the old VST versions? I know they designed SX from the ground up rather than recoding from VST, at least so they say.
