Bulb, you totally suck... (to quote borat) NOOOOT!!!

I cant believe how you can remember all these weird small things enhancing the craziness of the song... Dude, you are fucking awesome. I have no idea why youre not signed to a major label.

ozzy: dfh superior is like the ultra multisampled drum kit, its 35gb and it sounds awesome on every level, the only thing is it takes a while to get settings that sound punchy cuz the samples are completely flat and un eq'd so you can build em up the way you want them to sound, my drums are still a work in progress, but i have been working on them for years now!
Sounds awesome! (Not that I would ever have the chance or ability to use it. This computer can only even hold 20 Gigs. I need a new computer... )

He should start his own label.

You've got your head down
You've got your eyes closed
You look so pitiful now

Your body encrusted with ash
Breath heavy with toxins
Hair singed and matted
Clothes frayed and burnt

You are left with nothing

I'm sure if Bulb really wanted to get signed, he and/or Periphery could. My band has a few labels looking at us, and Bulb kicks our ass. Getting signed is at least as much about putting the effort into it as it is about the music you have.

That, too. It's a lot of things. You have to catch a label's attention, show them that you work really hard as a band and are active and have a decent following, look and act professionally, have a sound that they deem potentially profitable, and having connections doesn't hurt. The music quality itself comes into play somewhere, and if it's really good then it will definitely help a lot, but we all know that there are a lot of signed bands that have no real talent whatsoever. That's an area that Bulb has a leg up on the competition, though.

Lol, I'm not being a pain in the ass or anything. I was just hoping you give me some of the pointers for recording the guitars. What eq/filter/compression is used. I'm not asking for those exactly, just needed some pointers so I don't get out of line with my guitar sounds, also, keen to share your patch? Maybe thats asking too much.

Btw, you're the inspiration on being a better guitarist, tone is immense.

One more thing, your vocals on another song sound so crisp. Are you recording it in a separate room? Sorry, if most of my questions are plain newbie-ish. Keen to learn though.

Thanks again! Have a nice day!

The thing about labels is that as great as they are, i feel like they wouldnt do us a whole lot of good just yet, there is still ground that we can cover on our own, but i want to start shopping and talking to some labels asap which is why we are tryin to get the ep out! I joke but i am semi serious when i say that a savings account would probably be more beneficial than a label right now haha... I think after we have done a tour or two on our own and after we have the ep out and have basically just boosted out "musical resumes" a little, we would be better off with a label (and hopefully we would have a bit more leverage too...), but then again im no expert with this kind of stuff, so if you are, please feel free to educate me as i could really use the info haha!!

fanir: first off you can download my podxt guitar and bass patches in the patch library! but as far as mixing it in, i still have the problem of not being able to really communicate what im doing, cuz i dont actually know what im doing haha, im just moving shit till it sounds better. So honestly the best advice i can give you is to experiment, try different eq plugins because they all sound and react differently, and one that works well for me may not work for you at all, but im partial to curve eq by voxengo these days, tho i do just use the nuendo eq a lot of the times as well haha!

As for vocals, the closest thing i have to another room is my walk in closet to which we cant really shut the door completely, but its better than no isolation!

Was there anything that helped you when you were a noob? Website, Book, Etc. Anything to get a noob started in audio engineering, and get a decent mix. I am a user of nuendo/cubase and DFHS as well, but only dream of getting tone like that.

Also a far as drum programming would you be able to send a midi file of one of your songs so I can see how you work with velocities and all around programming style? I would be very x1000 thankful!

Maybe you could play around with the midi files there in DFHS? Anyway, hope that helped.

Bulb

Thanks alot for that, I'll be sure to note that down. I was wondering, your PODXT patches require the metal pack for Toneport right?

Just one last question, eq. Is EQ mainly to set where your instruments sits in the mix. I'm not quite sure what to mess around and after experimenting around, my guitar tone just turned out to be thin. I'm positive that I've cut the lows too much till it sounds whiney.

How do you setup yours basically?

Anyway, thanks again.
