In-ear monitoring with amp + impulse?

Hi guys,

Unsure if this is in the right section, if not please move as appropriate

My band are looking at using in-ear monitoring during our rehearsals to get the best quality/clarity we can, however because of the amps we use (Peavey 6534+ an Marshall JVM410) our tones suck major balls at low volumes. We started wondering if it would be possible to use the preamp out on our heads and then use an IR loader e.g. Lecab2 and say some Redwirez impulses, then send that through the mixer an out to our headphones. Would this be possible? Or am I just being a complete noob? Which I am, currently level 1 when it comes to this stuff

I cant imagine why it wouldn't work with 2 different computers and interfaces. As long has you have your amps also plugged into a cab on the speaker out for the load you should be fine.

So it would go cab-amp-interface-impulse-mixer? An would the cab be used as the DI?

so i think it would go

guitar into amp

amp lineout to interface though a computer for impulses back to interface into the mixer.

amp Speaker out to cab so your head doesnt die from no load.
