Hardcore beatdownish clip

Just got my first pair of monitors! So, respectively this is my first mix on monitors ever. They're brand new M-audio BX8's.

Anyways, I feel like this mix is all over the damn place...
This is a short clip I tracked and mixed a bit as a test and just to get a feel for these monitors.
Not too happy with it as of now, definitely could use some help.

WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY too much bass/low end. Try and compress your bass more to catch the peaks and then bring it down in the mix. It's clouding everything

Thanks for all the feedback everybody!

I take your guys advice and on a second listen, it was glaringly obvious that there was too much low-end going on. Who knew what I was thinking?

I made a few cuts/boosts to the bass as well as the snare, raised the sub-drop a tad, and lowered and compressed the bass a bit more.

Any better?

Sounds much better now. The hi-hat can be turned up a tad. The guitar tone sounds real cool. Are you using an amp sim with IR's?

Awesome!

Once again, I appreciate all the responses!

When I got home from work today I just decided to trash that mix and start from scratch. So, I did.

Here's what I settled with.

I think this mix sounds a ton better. What do you guys think? Any tips?
