Mixtest with some awesome new gear!!!!

I kind of bought myself a new studio-setup, and I loooove it!



Decided that I had to do a proper (read sloppy) mixtest, so here it is!

MIXTEST WITH MA NEW FRIENDZ!!

I switched from Pro Tools 8 LE to Logic Pro 9, and everything runs so much smoother now
and there haven't been any hick-ups (yet) wich was daily-basis with my Pro Tools rig!

List of new gear:

Focusrite Saffire PRO 40
Line6 HD500
Logic Pro 9
EZDrummer Metal Machine (used to have SD2)

Guitars and Bass are:

Ibanez RGA8 with a Dimarzio DA8 Neck in bridge position

When you say EZ drummer and you USED to have SD2, what do you mean?

Just what it says haha.. got rid of Superior Drummer 2 and only use EZDrummer with the Metal Machine expansion!

With some compression and EQ'ing they sound better and more like how I want my drums to sound than how my SD2 drums sounded before with years of tweaking!

Super satisfied! I will have to make a better mixtest in the weekend!

..and ye, Pro Tools 8 LE is an insult to the insult of insulting it as being shit..

Very surprised with how nice the mix is. Fills sound massive, cymbals are a tad harsh but not much to complain about. Again, the solo is a bit too loud ofr my liking, but that's all just my preference. Nice playing, nice mixing, nice composition.

I really like the sound of your toms, but I either don't hear a bass, or it's extremely low?

edit: mind sharing your preset for the MM kit?

Thanks! Yeah, there's no bass.. Just another guitar in the middle with a bassier sound, but it was too boomy no matter what I did so I lowered it!

As for the MM preset I use the default one with the hi-hat and overheads lowered a bit, then outside of EZDrummer theres EQ and compression!
Nothing fancy!

Side note: I didn't use impulses on the guitars, stock cabs in the pods..
Next time I will use some impulses for every stringed instrument!
