It can be done! ...with a little help from BFD 2.0
This is my roommate taking it for a test drive. The Yamaha goes into Logic 9 via a MIDI cable, and triggers BFD 2.0. I also blended kick and snare samples from EXS24 to give it a slightly more modern tone. Had to phase-invert the snare sample though.
Just bought this little thing on impulse because I was fed up with programming drums, and it turned out to be a home run! It barely takes up more space than a regular snare, it can sit on a tabletop, and it costs practically nothing I didn't do any remarkable things with the mix, just some compression, EQ and a reverb send. But I'm really impressed at the fast response of the DD-65, it "chokes" very rarely (which can be fixed anyway, it's MIDI...), and I love how BFD 2.0 really comes to life when you're playing rather than programming.
