First new song in AGES 'Hypatia' (Happy prog metal content!)

So after I finished studying for the day and picked up my guitar to noodle. Ended up writing and recording this tune in the next 6 hours. It's named 'Hypatia' after the first female Ancient Greek mathematician and because I've watched so much Carl Sagan recently.

Hypatia by Sithu Aye on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Note that I used my four string bass with regular strings tuned down to drop G# for most of the song so the bass tone might be just a tiny bit absolutely awful. Hope you like it and feel free to critique as you please, it's been a while since I've mixed anything!

EDIT: Tab for Hypatia: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/39302626/Hypatia.rar

This mix is amazing and I think this is your best song by far. Absolutely amazing. The main riff is incredible!

Man, this is so awful. Could you TRY and sound anymore like Kirk Hammett?! And what's with the Flea bass lines?! Your drummer sucks. You should find a new one. Man....

I gots JOKES!!!! Seriously dude, beautiful work. The part at 1:48 is giggly-gorgeous. And at 3:19, I wanted to give people panda hugs. Look at me getting all sensitive. Great job!

You have brightened up an otherwise dreary day revising mechanics. Sounds excellent as always. Possibly my favourite tune by you so far. I wish I could write something this good in my lifetime, let alone a day.

I absolutely love music, almost any and all kinds. Your music is some of the ONLY music out there that, when I close my eyes, takes me places. Can't really describe how or where, but I just feel outside myself or like I'm flying or something.

Huge thumbs up man, great stuff again!

The chugs are a bit flubby (or w/e, can't think of a better word) and too bottom heavy.

The music is 100% awesome though.

Thanks man, appreciate it. I'm not really hearing the low end thing at all though. Which bits do you mean by chugs, like palm muting in general or a specific section?

This is fantastic! I must say, one of my favourite things about your music are your chord choices, and this song certainly delivers.

"If you say your band sounds like a truck ....ing you in the nostril but not as bluesy, then I'm interested because I don't know what the .... that means" - JohnIce

Cheers! I do love getting the most out of having 7 strings and utilising bigger chords. Really easy in a drop tuning as well!
